This talk is in conjunction with the exhibit EXALTATIONS: GRASSROOTS AND VERNACULAR ART from the collections of Jennifer Koch, Gregg Blasdel, William L. Ellis and Julie Coffey, on display at New City Galerie May 6th-July 26th, 132 Church Street, Burlington. Co-curator of Exaltations, Gregg Blasdel, will be talking about visionary art environments built in the landscape by self taught artists/architects. The builders have usually pursued other occupations in life until heeding the call of a  personal, inner vision. Although they have become increasingly visible to a larger audience they have remained almost totally removed from the prevailing trends of contemporary fashions and styles.They often  create works that are singular in nature and have no parallel to other existing structures or environments.
